Quelles populations sont écartées de ce droit et se retrouvent altérisées et racialisées ? Ainsi, de façon très originale, l’historienne part du local pour analyser les modifications du projet impérial français et ses impacts sur la vie quotidienne.

Max Weber, Norbert Elias et Pierre Bourdieu ont en commun de concevoir l'action sociale comme un système d'attentes partagées par les acteurs sociaux et leur environnement qui leur permet de répondre adéquatement ou pas, aux exigences formulées par les règles collectives. En s'y conformant, les individus en retirent bénéfices et reconnaissance, et l'ordre social s'en trouve, lui, stabilisé. Pour comprendre cet ajustement des acteurs sociaux aux règles, les trois sociologues ont recours au même concept : l'habitus. Les trois sociologues en font état à chaque fois pour des situations différentes, autant individuelles que collectives, et toujours en lien avec une origine ressentie comme manquante. C'est le cas avec la sensualité pour Weber ; la défaillance du Premier Reich allemand pour Elias ; la trahison de ses origines pour Bourdieu. Pour chacun d'entre eux, la tentative de s'arracher au vide de l'origine échoue et les reconduit au manque initial. Pas plus la passion amoureuse saisie dans les termes de « l'amour-fou » chez Weber et chez Bourdieu, que la violence militaire quand elle verse dans la barbarie avec Elias, n'y changent quoi que ce soit. Avec ces différents régimes d'émotions se trouve posée la question de la place de l'inconscient collectif.

Chez Levinas, l'existence est investie comme liberté, se référant à un passé immémorial qui déformalise le fil temporel, diachronie d'un temps non synchroni­sable. C'est ce que mettent en lumière les textes ici réunis. Dans un dialogue critique avec Schelling et Kierkegaard, se dessine l'approche d'un profond jadis se soustrayant à toute substruction logique de l'être. En dialogue avec La pensée interrogative de Jeanne Delhomme, se développe une pensée modale, s'émancipant des servitudes de l'histoire, diachronie de l'immémorial. Dans la liberté de la création et de la jouissance artistiques, monde renversé chez Hegel, monde neutralisé chez Husserl, l'œuvre d'art paraît telle l'irréalité surgissant sur fond de monde à même la phénoménalité. Selon Levinas, c'est en son exotisme et son arrêt dans l'entretemps que l'œuvre d'art s'impose au paroxysme de sa matérialité, rendant perceptible dans l'émotion le mystère même de l'autre.

Les noms d'Alexandre Pouchkine, Nikolaï Gogol, Ivan Tourguéniev, Fiodor Dostoïevski, Lev Tolstoï ou Anton Tchékhov sont depuis longtemps familiers des lecteurs du monde entier. Mais qui sait que ces « monstres sacrés » de la littérature russe ont côtoyé des écrivaines de talent qui furent célèbres en leur temps, et dont les œuvres sont entrées en interaction avec celles de leurs homologues masculins ? Qui connaît les noms d'Anna Bounina, Elena Gan, Maria Joukova, Karolina Pavlova, Nadiéjda Khvochtchinskaïa, Olga Chapir, sans même parler de les avoir lues ? Car il existe, dans la littérature russe du XIXe siècle, un espace textuel riche mais encore à peine exploré, un dark continent resté longtemps ignoré de l'historiographie et de presque toutes les institutions littéraires. L'Archipel noir de la littérature russe invite à la (re)découverte de cet espace en explorant un autre passé littéraire possible. L'ouvrage, en ce qu'il se veut tout autant informatif que critique, propose aussi une réflexion sur les mécanismes qui régissent l'écriture de l'histoire littéraire et les processus de canonisation. Le Texte féminin et l'analyse du grand récit de la littérature russe sont en effet les deux points aveugles des recherches menées en France sur la Russie : en croisant les études de genre et l'histoire littéraire, culturelle, sociale et matérielle, L'Archipel noir de la littérature russe comble à la fois un vide de publication et un impensé de la russistique française.

Considérée comme une forme originale de déterminisme providentialiste, cette doctrine développée par Zénon et défendue par Chrysippe s’inscrivait à la croisée de l’histoire des idées, faisant le lien entre la controverse aristotélico-mégarique sur les futurs contingents et les futures théories du libre-arbitre. Loin d’être une fatalité tragique inaccessible à la raison humaine, le destin stoïcien n’est pas celui de la superstition, il est l’ordre rationnel du monde. Expression causale de la volonté divine, il se déploie implacablement dans un monde où toute chose est « en sympathie » avec toute autre et où chaque événement s’inscrit dans une série inflexible de causes à laquelle il faut s’accorder pour être libre et heureux. À partir des témoignages anciens, de Zénon à Marc Aurèle en passant par les détracteurs du Portique, ce livre reconstitue la doctrine stoïcienne du destin en quatre temps. En premier lieu, en identifiant ses principes physiques et théologiques, et en insistant sur l’originalité de son approche étiologique. Ensuite, en reconstituant les preuves du tout-destin stoïcien : causalité, logique des futurs et divination. Troisièmement, en examinant les théories modales conçues par les stoïciens contre les mégariques pour faire droit aux possibilités contrefactuelles, jusqu’à leur articulation avec la doctrine providentialiste de l’éternel retour. Enfin, en exposant les stratégies dialectiques développées par Chrysippe dans ses traités Sur le destin et Sur la providence contre ses adversaires pour faire droit à l’agir contre la paresse, et pour rendre compatibles le déterminisme et la responsabilité humaine sans passer par une métaphysique de la liberté.

Rarely seen pathways were exposed taking us to the forecourt where various themes are laid bare for all to see. Themes on life gone by, life now and life in the future all presented.

This shows that our country is richly endowed with gifted storytellers and our great culture prevails.Reading this book evokes memories of a life gone by while awakening the reader’s inert knowledge of phenomena. Ce numéro propose d’interroger la manière dont des pratiques, récits et dispositifs sont qualifiés de « culturels » et participent directement à la production des rapports de pouvoir.
Les contributions réunies s’appuient sur des enquêtes empiriques variées (teinturerie patrimonialisée, mobilisations environnementales, médiation scientifique, institutions culturelles, projets urbains) pour examiner les modalités concrètes par lesquelles le pouvoir se construit, se diffuse et se transforme dans des contextes situés.

The book is based on nearly a decade (2011–2020) of sustained ethnographic research within and across households in Harpurhey, North Manchester, England. Harpurhey is a suburban area in Manchester, located just three and a half miles northeast of the city centre. This book interrogates the everyday lives of people in Harpurhey ethnographically, placing their lives and agency at the centre of analysis. It explores the everyday lives of people who live with poverty and are rely upon state welfare support to make ends meet. Analytically, the arguments in this book begin by making a distinction between the production of poverty as a political, economic and ideological effect of capitalist processes and state activity, and the everyday, mundane choices and behaviours of the people who manage those effects (cf. Goode and Maskovsky 2001). Each chapter shows what may be concealed and revealed in interpersonal relationships between people living with poverty and in multiple interdependencies.

Traditional bone setting (TBS) has long held a prominent sway in African healthcare, particularly in the more remote and pastoral expanses of Africa. This unique interdisciplinary religious, human rights, and sociological study of medicine manuscript is an examination of not only generationally inherited ethnobotanical, pharmacognosy TBS traditions but also direct observations on how current surgical orthopedic medicine and modern-day social mechanisms clash with traditional healthcare approaches in contemporaneous and inexorable ways. Whether intentionally or not, this entrenched two-tier infrastructure supports, promotes, and maintains a fiscally and socially alienated infrastructure: one that serves the poor general public and the other that is oriented toward serving the prosperous and powerful urban class. Some argue that these disparate structures are destined to remain grassroots-based adversaries, due to systemic mistrust, irreconcilable intellectual and spiritual beliefs, and possible biochemical appropriations. These ensuing biomedical collisions between “Western” orthopedic trauma care and traditional bonesetters in Cameroon (Central Africa), Ethiopia (East Africa), Ghana (West Africa), and Zimbabwe (South Africa) were documented over eight years via one-on-one interviews with TBS patients, practicing bonesetters, and in-country practicing orthopedic surgeons; evidence-based ethnobotanical research; and patient service preferences.

Gathering Evidence (The Evidence of Things Not Said) is a collection of two diary cycles and two essays. The diaries are from the period, 2013-2014 and 2014-2015. The diaries gives an insight into life in Zimbabwe during these periods, 10 years ago. You find the political situation laid bare, the religious fanaticism, social constructions, the dream state, love life of the character, the weather, anything that the character thought to shone light on, and it especially gives an insight into what the writer is writing other than the diaries, whereby his writerly life and processes are tackled. One of the essays tackles issues to do with ownership and the other essay tackles that fractious opposition political landscape in Zimbabwe especially the enigma that Nelson Chamisa has become to the Zimbabweans.

La constitution d’une société commerciale dans le droit OHADA ne se conçoit pas sans apport des associés. L’acte uniforme relatif au droit des sociétés commerciales et du groupement d’intérêt économique prévoit trois types d’apports, regroupés en deux catégories  : les apports en capital et l’apport en industrie. Ce dernier ne bénéficie, paradoxalement, pas de la même attention que les autres types d’apports. L’analyse du régime juridique de l’apport en industrie révèle un apport dévalorisé et marginalisé. Ce paradigme doit être questionné et probablement reconsidéré parce que bien qu’ayant un caractère immatériel, l’apport en industrie mérite un meilleur sort que celui qui lui est réservé par le législateur communautaire.  

Cet ouvrage propose une approche innovante du régime juridique de l’apport en industrie et concourt à la construction d’une théorie refondatrice.

In the Inferno is part of the continuum starting from the poetry collection Under the Steel Yoke right through to the collection entitled Along the Way. The out of control veld fire is raging in homes and threatens to devour whole nations. The simple yet incisive poems address issues such as corruption, misrule, tyranny and despotism. Some of the poems address the wars in Gaza and Ukraine. The turmoil in the DRC also receives attention. The poems would be a damp squib if the writer did not address the Mugabe legacy and its impact on this country, Zimbabwe, which the late President of Tanzania Julius Mwalimu Nyerere called ‘a jewel? The poet takes a keen interest in world events but does not allow this to overshadow what he observes daily in his country of birth, Zimbabwe.

However, it all begins with the theology, a reflection upon the designer of the world we live in, and that is God. Everything we are and want to be requires maintenance. Failure to maintain our lives God’s way leads to destruction. I encourage you to think “maintenance.”

It has been fashionable to declare that there is no self. Certainly the notion of the unitary subject—a transcendent subject linked to the traditional religious idea of the immortal soul—has not had currency in academic discourse for a very long time, perhaps as much as a century and a half. The psychologically unified subject and the universal subject of shared experience are also things of the past. But is there nothing left of the experience of selfhood? For the self can disenchant itself. But what does the subject feel about itself once it begins to doubt its own integrity? How does it experience its own “decentering”? How does this “who” that is left define itself, for itself? For selfhood is an existential condition, and no matter how elusive the self is to itself, it does not and cannot wholly lose itself. This book analyzes how the Gnostics, the Romantics, Kierkegaard, Beckett, and Ashbery dramatize the self’s self-doubt and what follows. The shared theme of these works, disparate as they are, is the bewilderment of selfhood, the pathos of subjectivity. The self encounters its own selfhood as puzzling and paradoxical. It wants to possess the qualities of an ideal self—to be whole, independent, and free—and it is disappointed to find it does not. Yet after the skeptical dismantling, something remains within, which represents itself as the self and continues to hear the (unfulfillable) call to selfhood. The self can neither become a self, nor cease to be agitated by the desire to become one.

Ngøgð describes this book as ‘a summary of some of the issues in which I have been passionately involved for the last twenty years of my practice in fiction, theatre, criticism and in teaching of literature . . .’‘. . . the lectures on which this book is based have given me the chance to pull together in a connected and coherent form the main issues on the language question in literature . . . .’Ngøgð was regarded by the younger generation as probably the most important contemporary writer from the African continent. He wrote his first novels and plays in English. Weep Not Child, The River Between, A Grain of Wheat and Petals of Blood together with plays such as The Black Hermit and The Trial of Dedan Kimathi have added lustre to the great English tradition. However, even before his detention without trial in Kenya during 1978 he was determined to write in Gðkøyø so that ordinary people could understand his work. The novel which he later translated into English as Devil on the Cross became a popular success with people reading it aloud in bars. The original Gðkøyø edition of the play I Will Marry When I Want emerged from his work with Ngøgð wa Mðrðð at the Kamðrððthø Community Centre which was destroyed by Askaris in March 1982. He starts with a statement: ‘This book, Decolonising the Mind, is my farewell to English as a vehicle for any of my writings. From now on, it is Gðkøyø and Kiswahili all the way.’

Le présent ouvrage propose une étude des écrits tardifs de Husserl, rédigés entre 1930 et 1937, et se donne avant tout comme une lecture : celle par laquelle l’écriture elle-même se met à apparaître dans son mouvement propre. Il s’agit de faire surgir en nous ce moment de manifestation dont nous devenons les témoins, comme d’un véritable avènement. Les interventions de ce numéro d’Interstices, bien qu’elles soient différentes dans leurs objectifs, reposent sur les valeurs patrimoniales ancrées entre deux rives d’un Occident médiéval partagé.
Que ce soit Fès et le Maroc, Grenade et l’Andalousie, les articles ont ruisselé dans les jardins, les palais, les vastes prairies, les hautes collines. Chacun y va de ses idées, ses théories, ses convictions et ses questionnements. Ce qui se manifeste dans les narrations est le ressenti émotionnel d’un patrimoine qui a besoin d’être reconnu, sauvé et finalement valorisé dans tous ses aspects. Grenade, d’où l’on revient étourdi par la splendeur architecturale des monuments et les liens historiques qu’elle dégage, s’inscrit ici comme un pont entre les deux rives.
